An on-call shift, and a question with no answer.
This page says where the company comes from. It sits deliberately apart from the rest of the site: the problem is the subject, not the person who ran into it.
The field
Years operating data systems in production, and one observation that keeps returning: the people who repair fastest are not the ones who know the most things. They are the ones who have already seen the failure.
The question
How do you hire someone whose ability you cannot verify? The CV does not say. The technical interview says even less. And for two years now, nothing a candidate produces out of situation proves anything at all.
The attempt
Write the failure instead of describing it. Bring the environment up, break it, and see what the person does with it. The first mission was written as a plain folder of files, because a mission had to be reviewed like code.
What followed
Eleven missions, a validated schema, one validation script per mission, and one conviction: what the market lacks is not another course. It is an instrument of measurement.
